Great article Conor. Ive been trying to get some traction with my satirical take on such matters- I recently did an article entitled "Laughing Outlawed In Ireland" and Im so far not had any responses or shares from Irish bloggers or alternative media despite my efforts. Im not sure why this is.
Your take on the Irish media's dance with hate speech legislation is a wake-up call... their crafty tactics of downplaying and distorting the true consequences of these laws, selective framing and biased editorializing... all with the goal of silencing dissent and protecting the establishment. It's shocking how they champion free speech when it suits them, yet readily endorse restrictions on non-compliant views, a true betrayal of their journalistic duty and a sad abandonment of their loyalty to their audience. Great to hear there are independent voices and critical thinking to challenge the stifling narrative. Kudos for exposing their game.
“Hate Speech” Through the Eyes of the Irish Media
Another worthy article thanks Conor. As a journalist it's incredibly frustrating/ embarrassing to see the profession sabotaged in this way.
Does anyone know where I'd get a good primer on the law?
